Categories: Government

With 2024 just around the corner, the Town of Mountain Village is excited to introduce the Mountain Village Minute, a newsletter recapping the latest Town Council meeting and other relevant Town news.

Mountain Village Town Council held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, December 14. Please review meeting highlights below.

December 14 Meeting Highlights:

  • Town staff introduced two new staff members to Council:
    • Scott Pittenger recently started as the Town’s new Public Works Director. He will train under Finn Kjome over the course of the next year before Finn’s retirement. With Finn’s decades of experience with the Town, we are grateful to have Scott as part of the team learning from Finn for the next year before he retires.
    • Community Development Director Amy Ward introduced Senior Planner Drew Nelson. Drew comes to Mountain Village with a wealth of experience from Salida, and we are thrilled to have him in Mountain Village as our new Senior Planner.
  • Town Council appointed two new members to the Town’s Business Development Advisory Committee, Kelsey Bresnan and Joanna Smith. With Kelsey’s experience in the lodging community and Smith’s expertise as the owner of the Telluride Distillery, we look forward to their contribution to the Business Development Advisory Committee’s hard work.
  • Under a handful of agenda items, Town Council approved both the 2024 Mountain Village Metro District Budget and the Town’s overall 2024 budget, in addition to revising the 2023 budget.

  • Town Council heard from staff regarding the upcoming re-addressing project. Over the course of a few years, some neighborhoods will be asked to re-address their homes/units due to inconsistencies in the numbering of units or street names that don’t meet the Town’s recently adopted addressing standards.
