The Mountain Village Town Council held its regular monthly meeting last week on Thursday, August 15. Below you will find a recap of the meeting.

August 15 Meeting Highlights

  • Assistant Town Manager Michelle Haynes introduced Mae Eckard as the new Admin Assistant II for Town Hall and Housing.
  • Town Council approved a memorandum of understanding regarding wastewater treatment facilities and operations with the Town of Telluride.
  • Town Manager Paul Wisor presented department updates.
  • Council appointed Margaret Rinkevich and Camille Lewis to the artist/arts professional seats and Pete Mitchell to the public-at-large seat on the Public Arts Commission for four-year terms expiring in August 2028.
  • Council appointed Rob Johnson to the community at-large seat on the Plaza Vending Committee, fulfilling a remaining two-year term expiring April 2026.
  • Council appointed Bob Patterson to the regular seat on the Telluride Regional Airport Authority for a four-year term expiring August 2028.
  • Council ratified the 2025 budget process. View the 2025 budget calendar.
  • Council approved an ordinance on second reading regarding changes to the Community Development Code regarding roofing materials and the design review process.
  • Council authorized a request to increase funding for the Cedar Shake Roof Replacement Incentive Program to provide additional waivers to residents wishing to replace their cedar shake roofs with fire-rated roofing material.
  • Town Council considered and approved an intergovernmental agreement between the Town of Mountain Village and the Town of Telluride to provide Telluride with electrical inspection services.
  • Representatives from the Town of Telluride and Tri-County Health Network presented the latest on a proposed regional youth hangout asking Mountain Village for a funding contribution to the project. Council heard public comment and voted unanimously to approve the funding request.
  • Representatives from Citizen's State Bank presented to Council.
  • Staff discussed winter parking rates and next steps for the 2024-2025 winter parking rates, policies and plan with Council.
  • Without taking action, Town Council held executive sessions to receive legal advice on specific legal questions, to determine positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations, develop strategy for negotiations and/or instruct negotiators in connection with the following items:
    • Wastewater Treatment Plant
    • Acquisition of land
    • An intergovernmental agreement between the Town of Mountain Village and Town of Telluride to provide electrical inspection services
    • Future gondola funding

Town Council will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, September 19. Meeting material is posted to the Town's website and distributed via email the Friday before each meeting.

Please note: Written public comment will be included in the Town Council packet if it is received by noon the Thursday preceding the Town Council meeting. When written communication is received after the Town Council packet deadline, it will be forwarded to Town Council and the appropriate staff members and entered into the record after the Town Council meeting.
