Celebrate 30 years of Mountain Village on Thursday, July 24, 2025

The Town of Mountain Village invites the community to celebrate its 30th birthday on Thursday, July 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Telluride Conference Center. The fun-filled evening will honor the past, celebrate the present and look to the future of Mountain Village.

The evening will feature live music from Gravity's Child, a 90s tribute band showcasing talented local musicians who will perform hits from the decade when Mountain Village officially became a town. Gravity’s Child is the Western Slope’s best at covering mid-late 90s/girl group hits and classics featuring the powerhouse vocals of Leah Heidenreich, Meghan Knowles and Claybrook Penn.

The celebration will also include Swirl Photo Booth, an anniversary “tres decades” cake from Sweet Creations, a champagne toast, light appetizers and a cash bar.

"This anniversary marks three decades of Mountain Village's growth and development as a vibrant mountain community," said Communications Manager Kathrine Warren. "We're excited to celebrate this milestone with our neighbors in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere that reflects our community spirit."

While Mountain Village started as a planned unit development in the 1980s in unincorporated San Miguel County, by the mid 90s, its residents pushed to incorporate the town into a municipality, and on March 10, 1995 Telluride Mountain Village became the Town of Mountain Village.

Since its incorporation in 1995, the Town of Mountain Village has evolved from a ski resort development into a thriving municipality nestled in the San Juan Mountains.

“Mountain Village has always been more than just a resort. It’s a place people are proud to call home,” said Town Manager Paul Wisor. “As we celebrate our 30th birthday, we honor the vision of those who built this community and look ahead to a future defined by innovation, inclusivity, and a deep respect for this spectacular place we’re fortunate to share.”

The event is free and open to the public.
