The Town of Mountain Village, Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association and Town of Telluride are excited to announce that the gondola’s fall closing date has been extended to Saturday, October 21.

Historically the gondola closes on the third Sunday of October however TMVOA and the Towns are partnering to keep the mainline of the gondola (from Mountain Village Center to Telluride) open six days longer into fall’s gold season.

“Based on feedback from businesses and the way the calendar fell this year, we are excited to offer another week of gondola operation into the fall season,” Said TMVOA President and Chief Executive Officer Anton Benitez.

The main line of the gondola, between the Town of Mountain Village and the Town of Telluride will operate from 6:30 a.m. to midnight through October 21. Section three of the gondola, between Market Plaza and Village Center, will be closed during this time and the Town will continue to operate its shuttle from the Meadows to Market Plaza and into Village Center.

The gondola is owned and operated by the Town of Mountain Village and funded by TMVOA with the Town of Telluride and Telluride Ski Resort making monetary contributions.

San Miguel Authority for Regional Transportation will start its off-season bus service on Sunday, October 22. A bus schedule and more information will be shared through Town channels at a later date.

“We’ve heard loud and clear from the community that they would like to see a more year-round economy in Mountain Village and the Town feels these extended operating dates are a wonderful opportunity to support that sentiment,” said Economic Development Director J.D. Wise. “We look forward to supporting our businesses in extending their operating hours to October 21.”
