The Town of Mountain Village is pleased to announce that the annual Market on the Plaza will start Wednesday, June 14, and run each Wednesday through Sept. 13, 2023.

Mountain Village’s pedestrian-friendly Heritage Plaza comes alive with tents each Wednesday beginning June 14 with vendors selling farm-fresh produce and food, crafts and health products and more for the annual Market on the Plaza. Patrons can also enjoy Mountain Village’s Common Consumption Area as they peruse the Market’s offerings. The Market will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each week with live music each week 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“The Market on the Plaza has truly become a staple of the summer season and Mountain Village is certainly the place to be on Wednesdays,” said Economic Development and Sustainability Director J.D. Wise. “We’re eager to welcome back many of our favorite vendors in addition to hosting some exciting new offerings. With such a great variety of goods available locals and visitors both are sure to find something they’ll love!”

Now in its 13th year, Market on the Plaza is a vibrant local community market providing an avenue to support regional and local businesses that offer homegrown food and homemade products along with a variety of programming for kids and their families and live music.

The first market on June 14 will feature the grand opening of the new Mountain Village StoryWalk®, a partnership between the Town and Wilkinson Public Library. The StoryWalk® is now installed along the Boulevard Trail from Market Plaza to Village Center ending at Reflection Plaza. Each month a new story in both English and Spanish will be installed along the StoryWalk®.

Library and Town staff will celebrate the opening of the StoryWalk® and the first book “Senorita Mariposa” with free snacks, cookies and a special gift (while supplies last) starting at Market Plaza (by the start of the Storywalk and Disc Golf Course) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14. Stick around Market on the Plaza for a StoryWalk® Jam at 11 a.m. at the end of the walk.

“Our StoryWalk® aims to promote literacy, wellness and movement, and connection to nature and Mountain Village is excited to bring another family-friendly activity to the Village Center,” said Community Engagement Coordinator and Market Manager Molly Norton. “Special thanks to Tracy Walker with the Library for bringing the StoryWalk® to life with her curation of books and Plaza Services Manager Brett Button for his tremendous efforts in getting the StoryWalk® boxes installed.”

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

The Wilkinson Public Library and Telluride Theatre will offer kid-friendly programming each week including the return of Telluride Theatre’s “The Little Theatre” performances in August.

Shoppers can expect to find a wide array of farm produce, including eggs, fruits and vegetables, goat milk and cheeses, jams and marmalades, garden herbs and more. In addition, the Market offers the perfect lunch venue with a wide range of food vendors offering tacos, sandwiches and more.

Market on the Plaza also features leathers, jewelry, quilts, textiles, handmade soaps, balms and lotions, hand-carved wood items, healing products, and kitchen goods, among other items.
