The Mountain Village Town Council held its regular monthly meeting last week on Thursday, May 16. Below you will find a recap of the meeting.

May 16 Meeting Highlights

  • Council considered and approved a proclamation declaring May as Mental Health Awareness Month at the request of Tri-County Health Network.
  • Staff introduced the following newly hired employees to Council:
    • Chris Yeh, Village Court Apartments Maintenance Team
    • Aiden Flynn, Forestry Crew Leader
    • Alicia Web, Forestry Technician II
    • Trey Seeking, Forestry Technician I
    • Jonah Rofulowitz, Forestry Technician I
    • Jordan Menefee, Lead Preschool Teacher
  • Council approved an application for a special event permit by San Miguel Mentoring partnering with Telluride Food & Vine for a Special Event at the Telluride Racquet Club on June 14.
  • Town Manager Paul Wisor presented department updates from both April and May. Read department updates.
  • Council approved the second reading of separate ordinances regarding the following CDC amendments:
  • Council approved a first reading of an ordinance regarding CDC amendments to the Town's CDC environmental regulations regarding fire mitigation. The proposed changes are regarding required fire mitigation landscaping regulations to meet best practices better. The changes are based on State and National standards. The second reading and final approval of the ordinance will be heard at the Town's upcoming meeting in June.
  • Adopting a resolution approving a height variance application for Lot 166AR2-10, TBD Stonegate Drive.
  • Town Council approved the second reading of an ordinance amending PUD for the Madeline Hotel & Residences related to managing the Reflection Plaza Ice Rink.
  • Town Transit & Recreation Director Jim Loebe and Transit Operations Manager Rob Johnson discussed the winter parking with the Council. Review packet material.
  • Loebe also presented the 2024 summer trails plan to Council. More information will be shared with the public before trail work begins this summer. Review packet material.
  • Telluride Tourism Board Executive Director Kiera Skinner presented the TTB's biannual report to Council and presented the summer marketing campaign. Read TTB's report.
  • In a work session, Wisor, along with Assistant Town Manager Michelle Haynes, presented different options for the future development of deed-restricted housing on Town-owned properties. After reviewing the presentation, Council determined that the Town of Mountain Village would not initiate the development of any of the lots identified in the presentation. Review packet material.
  • Without taking action, Town Council held executive sessions to receive legal advice on specific legal questions, to determine positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations, develop strategy for negotiations and/or instruct negotiators in connection with the following items:
    • The Wastewater Treatment Plant
    • Proposed gondola replacement and expansion
    • Proposed elections related to future operation, maintenance and construction of the gondola systems
