May is Mental Health Month

Categories: Community

The Mountain Village Town Council has declared May 2020 Mental Health Month in conjunction with Tri-County Health Network.

Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being, and all Americans experience times of difficulty and stress in their lives.

Prevention is an effective way to reduce the burden of mental health conditions, and there are practical tools that all people can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency.

With effective treatment, those individuals with mental health and other chronic health conditions can recover and lead full, productive lives; and each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, organization and citizen share the burden of mental health problems and have a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention efforts.

To commemorate, Tri-County Health and the Wilkinson Public Library are hosting Happiness Hour, four Fridays in May starting Friday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m. Join them on Zoom for mocktails and chats led by a mental health professional about your experience in a COVID-19 world and how to better achieve contentment and resilience now and in the future.

Register online to get the Zoom link and this week's cocktail recipe.
