Mountain Village Council Member Patrick Berry resigns; replacement to be appointed November 16

Mountain Village Town Council Member Patrick Berry has tendered his resignation effective Monday, October 16.

Berry has accepted a new job opportunity with the La Plata Electric Association.

“This decision was made with great consideration, but my commitment to my new role is requiring that I make this choice,” Berry said.

Berry was elected to the Mountain Village Town Council in June 2017 and re-elected to serve a second term in 2021.

“Patrick has been an incredible asset to Town Council over the last six years, working tirelessly for the betterment of Mountain Village,” said Mayor Marti Prohaska. “He has been at the forefront of our environmental efforts, and his leadership has helped move the needle on the gondola redevelopment, town-wide fiber internet and other long-term community goals. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him and wish him the best in his new role.”

Town Council will appoint a registered elector to fill Berry's remaining two-year term. Interested Mountain Village registered voters must submit a candidate bio form and letter of interest to by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Council will make the appointment at the regular November 16 Town Council meeting.
