Mountain Village Mayor issues emergency face covering order
In the interest of safety for our community, including residents, business owners and visitors, Mountain Village Mayor Laila Benitez, with unanimous support from Town Council, has issued an emergency order requiring face masks in public places.
The order begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 5 and requires face coverings to be worn by employees, customers and the general public when inside any place of business or any methods of public transportation within the Town of Mountain Village. This applies to anyone over the age of 2 years old.
This order is in effect until 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 but is expected to be discussed and potentially extended by enactment of an ordinance at the next Mountain Village Town Council Meeting on June 11.
Please note, if someone has a medical condition, such as asthma or other respiratory issues, that prevents them from wearing a face cover, they are exempt from the order.
