
Mountain Village Minutes: June 2025
The Mountain Village Town Council held its regular monthly meeting last week on Wednesday, June 18. Below you will find a recap of the meeting.
June 18 Meeting Highlights
- Council approved a proclamation declaring June 2025 as Immigrant Heritage Month.
- Council ratified the 2025 Fire Safety Project Agreement between Ski Ranches and the Town of Mountain Village.
- Council welcomed new staff members including:
- Senior Planner Daniel Alvarado
- Forestry Technicians Wren Parziale, Robin Lemmerz and Joseph Wilson
- Police Officer Manager/Evidence Custodian Marisa Ficklin
- Rental Properties Coordinator Soren Stopnik
- Council approved a resolution postponing the election on the ski lift ticket tax to November 4, 2025. Read more.
- Department heads presented monthly updates and the Business & Government Activity Report.
- Council approved on first reading an ordinance amending CDC Section 17.5.13 Sign Regulations and set the second reading and public hearing for July 17, 2025.
- Council approved an ordinance adopting the 2024 editions of various international building codes and the 2023 edition of the National Electric Code following a public hearing.
- Council ratified a Memorandum of Understanding with TMVOA regarding slope stabilization work above the Mountain Village Base Station of the Gondola.
- Council approved resolutions appropriating additional funds related to slope stabilization and Munchkins capital improvements.
- Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding between San Miguel County, the Town of Mountain Village and the Town of Telluride regarding a regional wastewater treatment plant.
- Council held a discussion regarding property tax assessments.
- The Village Center Subarea Commercial Space Analysis Project was continued to a future Town Council meeting.
- Without taking action, Town Council held executive sessions to receive legal advice on specific legal questions, to determine positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations, develop a strategy for negotiations and/or instruct negotiators in connection with the following items:
- Proposed ski lift ticket tax
- Sewer authority and wastewater treatment plant
- MOU with TMVOA regarding slope stabilization
- Real estate acquisition and sales involving properties used by ski resorts including an update on pending litigation
- Oak Street Gondola Station draft lease agreement with Telluride

The next Town Council Meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 17. Meeting material is typically posted to the Town's website the Friday before each meeting.

When written communication is received after the Town Council packet deadline, it will be forwarded to Town Council and the appropriate staff members and entered into the record after the Town Council meeting.
