Mountain Village to hold Town Council Candidate Forum Tuesday, June 3
The Town of Mountain Village will hold a Town Council Candidate Forum on Tuesday, June 3 at Mountain Village Town Hall.
A candidate meet and greet will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by candidate introductions at 6 p.m. The format will include opening statements by each candidate and questions pertinent to the election prepared by the moderator, long-time Mountain Village resident Rube Felicelli. Each candidate will be given a specified amount of time to answer each question.
Felicelli served on the Mountain Village Town Council from 1999 to 2007 and served as Mayor in 2007. He is the current president of the San Miguel Power Association board of directors.
To close, the moderator will ask written questions from the audience if time permits. The Forum will be streamed live at townofmountainvillage.com/election and available to watch on-demand after the forum. Spanish interpretation will be available at the forum.
The Town of Mountain Village Regular Municipal Election will take place on June 24 to elect three Town Council members. There will also be six ballot measures for voters to consider.
The three Town Council seats up for election are currently held by Jack Gilbride, Huscar E. Gomez (Rick) and Harvey Mogenson. Gilbride has reached the end of his two-term limit. Mogenson is running for a second term. Gomez is running for his first official term, after being appointed to fill the seat left vacant by Patrick Berry’s resignation from Council in the fall of 2023.
Eight candidates are running and are listed on the ballot in this order (which was drawn at random): Michael Kirn, Alline Arguelles, Bryan Woody, Bradford Hewitt, Harvey Mogenson, Jonathan Greenspan, Huascar E. Gomez (Rick) and Heather Knox. To learn more about each candidate, visit townofmountainvillage.com/election.
Once elected, the new council will convene on July 17, where the mayor and mayor pro-tem will be appointed by the new town council.
Ballots will be mailed to registered voters between June 2 and 9 and can be returned either by mail or in person to Mountain Village Town Hall by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24. Town Hall is located at 455 Mountain Village Boulevard, Suite A (above the Village Market). On Election Day, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
