Mountain Village to host Forest Health Presentation Tuesday, August 8

The Town of Mountain Village Forestry Department will hold the second installment of its community engagement efforts with a Forest Health Presentation on Tuesday, August 8 at 6 p.m. at the Mountain Village Town Hall Council Chambers.

The lecture-style presentation will cover the Town of Mountain Village’s forest systems and management plan and highlight the importance of proactive forest management.

Mountain Village Forester Rodney Walters will shed light on the current state of the forest and outline management actions that can be taken to steer our forests toward its desired future condition. This event aims to provide a broad-based perspective on the natural forest systems in and around Mountain Village while discussing strategies that may be implemented to achieve our community forestry goals.

This event is geared toward Mountain Village residents and is intended to build off the information presented at the Forestry Workshop Walters hosted on May 30.

“This conversation is sure to be informative and thought-provoking and help our community both understand current strategies and also provide feedback as I begin to set our community forest goals or a broader strategic forestry plan.”

The Town recently launched a community forest survey to receive community and stakeholder feedback as Walters leads the charge to further develop the Town’s forest management goals.

The survey is available at bit.ly/TMVForestSurvey.

“By taking this survey, you will be helping to ensure that the plan is truly community-centered and people empowered,” Walters said.

The survey will be open until November 1 and those who fill out the survey may enter to win a $100 gift card to the Village Market.
