Mountain Village Town Manager Paul Wisor to remain in position

After thorough consideration, reflection and discussions with staff, Town Council and community members, Town Manager Paul Wisor has decided to stay in his position with the Town.

Wisor originally announced his intent to step down sometime this summer due to a need to return to the Vail Valley.

“I am deeply grateful to my family for their support of this decision,” Wisor said in an email to staff announcing the decision. “It is not always easy for me or them to be away for extended periods of time. However, they recognize the importance of this role and this organization to me and want to be part of my ongoing efforts here.”

Wisor joined the Town of Mountain Village as the town attorney in the fall of 2020, stepped into the role of interim Town Manager in the fall of 2021 and was officially hired as Town Manager on January 20, 2022.

During his time as Town Manager, Wisor has tenaciously pursued numerous goals for the Town while collaborating with regional partners. Those goals included (but are not limited to) developing community housing at Meadowlark at Mountain Village and Village Court Apartments, working on long-term gondola planning, working with the Town of Telluride on the future of the regional wastewater treatment plant, negotiating and implementing managed parking and amending the Comprehensive Plan.

“Paul has been the driving force behind many of the policies, projects, and programs that Mountain Village has undertaken in recent years,” said Mountain Village Mayor Marti Prohaska. “He possesses that rare blend of leadership, intellect and dedication that will help the entire region continue the momentum we’re currently experiencing with gondola planning, employee housing, and wastewater. We are thrilled to have him stay on in his role as Town Manager and very much appreciate his commitment to our community and the greater region.”
