How you can help your community during this time

Categories: Community

Mountain Village is working with the School District and Angel Baskets to offer school lunch assistance and food bank box delivery to Mountain Village residents in need.

Working alongside these amazing organizations has been a privilege. It is now becoming evident that in order to keep up with demand, help is needed from our community.

The Telluride Food Pantry is currently providing 100 distributions each week, almost one-quarter of those going to Mountain Village families. They are accepting donations in any amount, or you can sponsor a family for one month for $100.

Non-perishable items such as meals in a can (chile, beef stew, etc.), soup, canned vegetables- corn, green beans, mixed vegetables, cereal, unused bandanas & face masks would be particularly helpful. Please drop off non-perishable food in bags marked Food Bank at La Cocina de Luz any day between the hours of 2 p.m-5 p.m. If you have questions, please email.

The Telluride R-1 School District has committed to providing free bagged lunches for all regional kids ages 0-18. The Mountain Village has delivered nearly 200 lunches over the past two weeks alone! For $16.50, a local child will receive fresh, healthy school lunches every day for a week, but any amount is appreciated. If you would like to donate to this effort, checks can be mailed or dropped off in-person to: Telluride School District, Attn: Kim Spaulding 725 W. Colorado Avenue, Telluride, CO 81435. For dropping off checks, head to the front desk and place in an envelope taped to the door.

Existing school district families can also transfer the positive balance on their student's lunch account as a donation. Send an email authorizing the transfer and amount and they will move the positive balance to the donation account.
