The Mountain Village Planet over Plastics Coalition will begin to offer more tips and resources for reducing your personal plastic impact with periodic Waste Free Weekend tips.

Plastic, a groundbreaking material my grandparents thought was going to save the world. It revolutionized medicine, made space travel possible, lightened cars and jets to save on fuel and even saved lives with helmets, incubators, and equipment for clean drinking water. Yet the same properties and additives that make it stronger, flexible and more durable, make it nearly impossible to break down, and now we find ourselves swimming in the 9 billion metric tons of plastic we have produced. In the last 50 years, our insatiable appetite for plastic and ever-increasing overconsumption has wreaked havoc on our planet, polluting our oceans in giant floating plastic gyres, suffocating ocean creatures and contaminating our water and ecosystems world-wide.

But, have you ever taken the time to really reflect how prevalent plastic is in your day to day life? Today, we reflect on our daily habits and how plastic has woven its way into the fabric of our every day. Do-a-Plastic-Audit of your daily routine!
