Recycle Holiday Decorations and Small E-Waste
The Town of Mountain Village presents a free opportunity to recycle holiday decorations and small electronics this winter!
Recycling boxes are located within Town Hall and items can be brought in from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. One box is available for decorations and a second box is available for small electronics. The following materials are accepted:
Holiday/Party Decorations
- Balloons
- Banners
- LED string lights
- Ornaments
- Plastic Flowers
- Ribbons & Bows
- Streamers & Confetti
- Tinsel & Garlands
- Wrapping Paper
Small Electronics (items must fit in the box)
- Cell Phones
- Computers & Laptops
- Desktop & Handheld Computers
- Digital Recorders
- Fax Machines
- Keyboards
- Monitors
- Printers
- Radios & Stereos
In the State of Colorado, it is illegal to throw away electronics in the landfill.
“We are excited to offer this new recycling opportunity for our community and capture new waste streams,” said Mountain Village’s Sustainability & Grant Projects Manager Lauren Kirn. “We invite you to drop off wrapping paper, string lights, tinsel, balloons, ornaments, and small electronics to divert this material from the landfill, reduce your carbon footprint and help us meet our zero waste goal. Thank you for your part in responsibly disposing of these items!”
Please do not bring batteries, organics, broken glass, or fluorescent, mercury or incandescent light bulbs. Batteries can be recycled at Telluride Wilkinson Public Library.
The Mountain Village Sustainability Departments plans to have this opportunity available year round and will track the collected items to understand the amount of holiday decorations and small electronics being diverted from the landfill.
