September is Suicide Prevention Awareness and Recovery Month

Categories: Community

The Mountain Village Town Council, in partnership with Tri County Health Network, has declared September 2020 National Suicide Prevention Awareness and Recovery Month.

The week of September 6-12, 2020 is National Suicide Prevention Week, and September 2020 is both National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and National Recovery Month, when millions of people around the world join their voices to share a message of hope and healing.

These observances are united in raising awareness that prevention is possible; treatment is effective, and people do recover.

The Mountain Village Town Council, calls upon the citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, businesses and schools in the Town of Mountain Village to recommit our community to increasing awareness and understanding of the many reasons why suicide occurs in our community, the steps our citizens can take to help their fellow citizens who are considering suicide, and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people who are living with mental health challenges.

Join Tri-County Health Network and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention-Colorado Chapter for a Suicide Prevention Walk on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. Visit our event calendar for more information.
