Stop the stigma: Mental Health Awareness Month

Categories:

The Mountain Village Town Council has once again declared the month of May Mental Health Awareness Month in conjunction with Tri-County Health Network and regional government bodies.

While all residents face challenges in life that can impact their mental health, especially during the pandemic, Mountain Village Town Council wants to acknowledge the importance of taking care of our mental health now more than ever before. Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being, and all Americans experience times of difficulty and stress in their lives.

Mountain Village would also like to encourage its constituents to talk about their mental health openly and never be afraid to ask for help. Asking for help is one of the bravest things someone can do.

Prevention is an effective way to reduce the burden of mental health conditions, and there are practical tools that all people can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency. With effective treatment, those individuals with mental health and other chronic health conditions can recover and lead full, productive lives; and each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, organization and citizen share the burden of mental health problems and have a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention efforts.

Mountain Village Town Council is proud to join the fight to #StopTheStigma and join the conversation about our community’s mental health.
