Telluride Mountain Village Gondola Plan: Winter Newsletter

Categories: Transportation

On November 9, the Gondola Leadership Committee – comprised of representatives from the Town of Mountain Village, Town of Telluride, San Miguel County, Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association (TMVOA), San Miguel Authority for Regional Transit and Telluride Ski Resort – met for the first time to discuss the history, long-range planning objectives and potential options for the gondola’s future, as well as establish consensus on principles to guide the process. Those guiding principles are:

  1. Over the past 25 years, the gondola has proven to be a regional asset and amenity
  2. All involved parties want to see the gondola continue to operate after 2027
  3. Doing nothing is not our answer: We should work together to determine the best path forward and develop a long-term plan

The Leadership Committee will continue to meet regularly over the next year to make key decisions and ensure constituent feedback is integrated into the process. During this time, the Gondola Subcommittee – comprised of representatives from each participating entity – will meet regularly to review and refine technical information and develop recommendations for the Leadership Committee’s consideration.

The first Leadership Committee meeting also marks the launch of many exciting community engagement opportunities!

The Gondola’s 25th Anniversary celebration is on January 8, 2022! Save the date. More details about the party coming soon.

A new gondola planning website has been launched! It is the go-to resource for news and information. Visit www.OurGondola.org to stay in the loop!

In conjunction with the Gondola’s 25th Anniversary, a community survey will be conducted to better understand our priorities and desires for the gondola’s future.
