Town Council to revisit Lot 109R Hotel Project Thursday, August 18, 2022

At its regularly scheduled meeting on August 18, the Mountain Village Town Council will consider the first reading of an ordinance regarding a Major Planned Unit Development (PUD) Amendment to the existing Lot 109R PUD. This is a continuation from the June 16, 2022 Town Council meeting.

The project applicant is Tiara Telluride, LLC which owns the Mountain Village Hotel site, located where North Village Center Parking lot currently sits. The 109R PUD (also known as Mountain Village Hotel PUD) was first approved 2010 and has received two PUD amendments that extended its vesting period, now set to expire in December of 2022.

At its June meeting, Town Council asked the project’s applicants to address nine key points to the amendment application and continued its hearing to Council’s regular August meeting.

“This application is intended to address all of those items so that the applicants can understand where Town Council stands, in order to submit their next set of applications,” said Assistant Town Manager Michelle Haynes. “These points from the June council meeting include the public benefits package, concern about mass and scale, circulation and public parking.”

The luxury hotel brand Six Senses has provided a letter of intent to run the proposed hotel. The project proposes 50 hot beds, 20 condominiums, 31 lodge units 18 employee dorms, 2 employee apartments, hotel amenity spaces and improvements to Village Center plazas.

This agenda item is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 18.

The applicant is also asking Town Council to extend validity of the original PUD and its vested property rights from December 8, 2022 to December 8, 2024 in order to allow them to continue to work through this current PUD amendment process.

Town council will consider this request immediately following the previous agenda item and it is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m.
