Town of Mountain Village and TMVOA to hold gondola station open houses June 4 & June 5

Categories: Gondola

The Town of Mountain Village (TMV) and Telluride Mountain Village Owner's Association (TMVOA), in partnership with the San Miguel Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) will hold two open houses for the gondola stations planning process.

  • Mountain Village Center and Market Plaza Stations Open House, Wednesday, June 4, 5-7 p.m., Mountain Village Town Hall

  • San Sophia Station Open House, Thursday, June 5, 5-7 p.m., Great Hall at Ridge Club adjacent to San Sophia Station

The three entities are working together to eventually replace the almost 30–year–old gondola system and are currently in the station area planning process. The open houses will focus on gathering community input for the planning efforts of the Market Gondola Station (next to the Gondola Parking Garage) and the Mountain Village Station (located in Village Center) and on San Sophia Station (the midway point between Telluride and Mountain Village).

"The station area planning process(es) are a critical step in planning for the eventual rebuild of the existing gondola,” said David Averill, SMART’s Executive Director. These meetings present a fantastic opportunity for community members to share what they envision for these key transit hubs and how they fit into the context of each town and location. Identifying community preferred station area design concepts will help the project team in its effort to develop an overall conceptual cost estimate of the rebuild project, which is necessary for the grant programs we are pursuing for that effort."

In tandem with the Open House, TMVOA and the Town have distributed a survey to gather community input on the Mountain Village stations. The brief survey is available at bit.ly/MVgondolastationsurvey.
