In my early 20s I survived cancer, and now strive to create simple beauties for others to enjoy. Most of the materials I use are ethically harvested from the wilderness of Colorado or the fields of my family’s farm (Whistling Squirrel Farm). I create a variety of crafts using mixed media to create usable or wearable art that reminds me of the natural beauty and wildness outside. For example, one of my favorite things about my parents’ farm are the bees that buzz amongst the flower fields. In their joyous honor I make beeswax candles with small polymer clay bees and dried flowers. To remind me of the lavender fields, I hand-embroider small sachets filled with dried lavender that can be thrown in the dryer or tucked under a pillow. I think everything I put into the world should be pretty and it should be fun.
