Disco Swell

Caitlin and Hanna created Disco Swell’s signature rounded teardrop shape by hand sculpting using free form millinery techniques. Unlike factory produced hats, which are often too tall or bulky, Disco Swell’s have a tailored fit specifically for each individual customer.

Disco Swell is fluid, wearable art and each hat band is part of a limited edition. You’ll find each band is tagged with its edition number like you would find an art print. Disco Swell hats are completely handcrafted from start to finish. Hats are shapes by hand. All interior sweatbands and satin cowboy hat liners are sewn in by hand as well. All hatbands used for decorating Disco Swell hats are vintage horsehair dating back to the 1950s. Most of the hatbands were originally woven by machines predating WWI, which cease to exist anymore. Materials are ethically and sustainably sourced from small business owners across the U.S. in states such as Colorado, Pennsylvania, Texas, New Mexico and California. Disco Swell creates bespoke pieces built to last a lifetime through combining rare vintage bands and traditional millinery techniques.
