Telluride Foundation SKIDOLA
The Telluride Foundation, in partnership with the Peter Inglis Avalanche Education Fund (PI Avy Fund), is initiating the fourth annual Skidola, Telluride’s Winter Uphill race.
The Skidola is an open registration uphill on-snow race open from the town of Telluride to the ridge that parallels the gondola. The Telluride Foundation is the host and organizer and all proceeds will be donated to the PI Avy Fund to further its mission to create opportunities for avalanche education and backcountry user awareness in the San Juan Mountains.
Racers start at the base of the gondola in the town of Telluride and finish at the top of the ridge near lift 7. The race will start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.
Racers ride the gondola back to Telluride or Mountain Village after the race. No downhill traffic will be allowed. Race director reserves the right to delay start due to weather or course conditions. Bib pick up and onsite registration is Thursday, March 14th from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. MT at Oak. Athletes must take the gondola down after the race. There is no downhill traffic allowed.
Anyone who wants to race on snow wearing skins on skis, microspikes or snowshoes are invited to participate! No bikes or motorized equipment. Participants must wear snowshoes, microspikes or skins on their skis*. (*skins on skis MUST have breaks on bindings or leashes on skis, thank you) ALL participants are REQUIRED to wear a form of traction & register in the appropriate category. No dogs.
