Open Records

In accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act, The Town of Mountain Village make public records open for inspection for anyone with reasonable notice: within three business days from the date of request. With extenuating circumstances, this timeframe may be extended to seven days.

In some cases certain documents may not be subject to public disclosure. Those include, but are not limited to, personnel files and attorney-client communications. When in doubt about whether or not a requested record is subject to disclosure, simply ask our town clerk. Failure to disclose a public record is a violation of the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA). For more information, view our Open Records Policy.

Please be aware of the Town's new Open Records Request policy regarding architectural, engineering and other plans for properties located within Mountain Village: the Town will notify the homeowner and architect and engineer of record when the Town receives requests for these types of records. The purpose of the notification is to give the identified parties the opportunity to object to the disclosure. Accordingly, the Town will be notifying the relevant parties that it has received a CORA request for plans related to the Property but will not disclose your identity. If the Town does not receive an objection regarding your request within 7 business days of the date of your request, we will produce the requested records, if any, in accordance with the Town’s CORA policy and state statute. Thank you for your patience.
