Open Records

In accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act, The Town of Mountain Village make public records open for inspection for anyone with reasonable notice: within three business days from the date of request. With extenuating circumstances, this timeframe may be extended to seven days.

In some cases certain documents may not be subject to public disclosure. Those include, but are not limited to, personnel files and attorney-client communications. When in doubt about whether or not a requested record is subject to disclosure, simply ask our town clerk. Failure to disclose a public record is a violation of the Open Records Act. For more information, view our Open Records Policy.

Copies requested will not be released until full payment has been received. We accept either cash or check made payable to the Town of Mountain Village.

We accept:

  • Cash or check at Mountain Village Town Hall, 455 Mountain Village Blvd., Suite A, Second Floor.
  • Cash or check at Utilities, 411 Mountain Village Blvd., Second Floor.
  • We do not accept credit cards at this time.

Date Request Received

By law, the Town of Mountain Village has three business days to provide documents for in-office review or to supply copies of requested documents. Every effort will be made to produce documents before that time. Some records may require seven business days to release if extenuating circumstances exist.

A 50 percent deposit is required prior to embarking on any work on all requests requiring more than an hour of research and/or preparation of documents. In addition, this deposit shall include estimated legal fees, fees of outside consultants retained on behalf of the jurisdiction, overhead and equipment. This shall also include a charge for supervision and staff time at the set fee of $33.58 per hour. No copies requested are released until full payment has been received.
