What brought you here?
My husband and I built our home in Mountain Village nine years ago, after being frequent visitors to Mountain Village for nearly 20 years. We love the easy access to trails, open spaces, outdoor recreation, and most importantly the tremendous sense of community.
What motivated you to run for Town Council?
When we first moved here I had the opportunity to work for the Town of Mountain Village in the Administration Department, which allowed me to learn about the internal town operations. I hope that this understanding, coupled with my years of experience in the private sector, will allow me to serve our community thoughtfully and responsibly.
Describe one of your goals and objectives for Mountain Village.
We need to develop more effective ways to keep residents, property owners, and businesses updated on town projects and initiatives, as well as soliciting public input in an ongoing and frequent manner. I want to help create an engagement plan that addresses the differing communication approaches of our community – including print, email, social media, and the local media.
Along the same lines, I want to work towards increased collaboration with our regional partners, such as the Town of Telluride, TMVOA, San Miguel County, and TSG. We have many long and short term goals ahead of us and working together will allow us to accomplish these goals in a shorter time frame and likely at reduced financial investment than if we were each going it alone.
What challenges you most about being an elected official?
Ensuring all the voices in our community are heard.
Name a random fact about yourself.
I speak fluent Farsi.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I love hiking with our two dogs and cooking for our friends and family.
What is the best way for your constituents to communicate with you?
I appreciate any chance to hear from members of the community out and about town.
