Patrick Berry

2021 Town Council Candidate

Professional Background/Occupation:

My professional experience is based primarily in accounting and finance with core management competencies focused in revenue management, cost control, accounting management, asset management, capital budgeting and HOA management. Currently, I am employed as the Director of Accounting and Finance for Telluride Ski & Golf Co. where I have been employed for the last fifteen years. During my time in the area, I also provided consulting services for a diverse mix of clients. Local clients included the Telluride Tourism Board and CGKM, a private air carrier formerly at the Telluride Regional airport, to name a few.

In August of 2001, my wife and I moved to Telluride to accept a position with a hedge fund as an equity analyst where I worked for three years with a focus on the technology sector. Prior to our move, I started my career as a broker and sales rep for Charles Schwab and Oppenheimer mutual funds. I hold a community association manager's license with DORA, am a Level III candidate for CFA designation, and have held multiple securities licenses.

Length of Time as Town Resident:

6 years.

Previous Political Experience/Specific Qualifications:

I have had the honor of being on the Mountain Village Town Council for the last 4 years. During that time I have served on the gondola committee, tech committee, tourism board, museum board, VCA expansion committee, Mountain Village Green Team, Alliance for Inclusion, CC4CA board (treasurer), and a number of other special committees.

Reasons You Would Like to Serve:

During these last four years, I have learned a tremendous amount about our local and state governments and processes. That experience will serve me well if elected for another term. As a town we have made some significant progress, but there is still a great deal of work yet to complete and challenges yet to face. The comp plan revision process, transitioning into a post COVID economy, wastewater treatment upgrades, gondola funding/potential expansion, and fiber-to-the-home project completion are just a few of the major tasks and issues ahead of us, to say the least. The knowledge, experience, and relationships I have developed over the last four years put me in a position to help optimize results for the Town.

Other Information You Want to Include:

If re-elected I will continue to serve with the same honesty and drive as I did in my first term. Serving the good of the people of Mountain Village is my first priority as an elected official and preserving our quality of life will be integral to our future success.
