2023 Town Council Candidate

Professional Background/Occupation:

I have been in the commercial real estate development business for the last 32 years with a primary focus over the last 20 years on medical office buildings, including a cancer center, ambulatory surgery centers, procedure spaces and general medical offices. I have extensive development, leasing, operations and ownership experience in those asset classes as well as in industrial and residential properties. Prior to entering the real estate business, I spent approximately 3 years as an information consultant with Andersen Consulting working with large systems integration clients.

Length of Time as Town Resident:

I have been a resident of Mountain Village for 6 years and now live here full-time with my wife, Cindy. However, I have been coming to Telluride and the Mountain Village as a visitor, second homeowner and full-time resident for 26 years and understand the interests of each. I am passionate about our community and what it has to offer.

Previous Political Experience/Specific Qualifications:

While I have not had any direct political experience, as a real estate developer, I have had a myriad of experiences appearing before and working with various city and town councils and their staff. In my real estate development role, it was necessary to read and understand the intricacies of the municipalities’ land use plans, zoning ordinances and building codes; these experiences will be extremely beneficial while serving on town council with some of the issues currently facing Mountain Village. I have worked for public and private real estate companies during my career, and I have run my own business for the past 23 years. As a business owner you make countless decisions on a daily basis that impact future success. I view a council member’s role as one that is in place to protect the community, while helping it prosper and grow, as the community may desire, with an understanding that the decisions I help to shape today will impact generations to follow.

Reasons You Would Like to Serve:

We are all extremely fortunate to live, work and play in the Town of Mountain Village and take advantage of all it has to offer. While the Mountain Village is an incredible place, we are at a critical time in the region. We have a number of significant issues facing our town and beyond that will impact our community for years to come such as growth, employee housing, land use planning, development, gondola and transportation, and our ongoing legacy, to name a few. I want to be part of the team that works to solve these critical issues to keep the Mountain Village an incredible place to live, work and play for decades to come.

Other Information You Want to Include (family, community involvement, other personal information):

Married to my wife Cindy for 33 years and have three grown children, Mackenzie, Halle and Tanner. Cindy and I have also been foster parents for 13 years, fostering over 25 children from newborns to 2 years old.
Cindy and I are passionate about volunteering and regularly assist at the Telluride Food Pantry/Angel Baskets. We spent the past season working for Guest Service at Telski as a Resort Host and Mountain Host respectively.

In our free time, we love to hike, ski and mountain bike. I am currently segment hiking the Colorado Trail and Pacific Crest Trail as time permits.
